The compliance deadline is 5 December 2027. Do you know where you stand?
ESOS Phase 4 is not the same as Phase 3. DECs and Green Deal Assessments are no longer valid. Progress against your Phase 3 action plan is now a mandatory part of your submission. Annual updates with board sign-off are required after you file.
Non-compliance carries fines of up to £50,000 — and the Environment Agency has increased enforcement activity in recent phases.
CIBSE-accredited Lead Assessors have limited capacity. Organisations that leave it late in 2027 will compete for assessor time, pay more for it, or miss the deadline entirely.
If you have 250+ employees, or turnover above £44m and balance sheet above £38m, you almost certainly qualify. The time to start is now — not when the deadline is six months away.
